Privacy Policy
Effective October 12, 2026
- The camera is used only on your device to count your moves. Video never leaves your phone.
- No account, no ads, and no tracking across apps.
- Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports help us fix the game. You can turn statistics off in Me › Share usage data.
- Your progress is stored on your device.
- Reps Race is free: there are no purchases or subscriptions.
- Leaderboards and races with friends use Apple Game Center, only if you're signed in to it. A race sends your score and a simple outline of your body to your friend's phone, never video.
- The streak reminder is a notification your iPhone schedules itself. Nothing is sent to us.
Who we are
Reps Race is developed by Berbytes ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the Reps Race app does with information about you.
Camera
Reps Race uses your device's camera to detect your body position, so it can count reps and see which targets you reach. This processing happens entirely on your device using a built-in pose detection model. Video and images are never recorded, saved, or sent to us or to anyone else. The only exception is racing a friend, described below, where a simple outline of your body (a few points, not a picture) goes to your friend's phone.
Information stored on your device
Your game progress (levels, stars, XP, streaks, quests, personal bests and your best runs to race against, unlocked card looks and titles) and your settings are stored only on your device. We don't receive them. Deleting the app deletes this information.
Usage statistics and error reports
While Me › Share usage data is on (it is by default), the iPhone app sends PostHog, Inc. a short record of what happens in the app:
- the app opening, and whether camera access was allowed or the camera failed to start;
- rounds you start, quit or finish: the game, level, score and stars, how long the camera and pose model took to start, how fast pose detection ran, how many reps didn't count because they weren't deep enough, and how long the clock waited while you were out of frame;
- when the app offered help with setting up, and whether you switched game there;
- races and challenges with friends: the game and the outcome, never who you played;
- sharing a results card, using hands-up on the results screen, and turning the streak reminder on or off;
- rounds cut short because the app crashed, and technical details of app errors.
Each record carries a random ID created by the app, which isn't linked to your name, email, Apple ID or Game Center name, plus the app version, iOS version, and screen size. Video, images and your body position are never included.
PostHog stores these records in its EU cloud and keeps them available to us for one year; older records may stay in PostHog's archive until we delete our project. It receives your IP address when records are sent; we don't use it to look up your location. You can turn this off at any time in Me › Share usage data. PostHog's handling is described in its privacy policy.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, it sends a crash report to Google Firebase Crashlytics the next time it opens. The report contains where in the app's code the crash happened, the device model, iOS and app version, free memory and storage, and random installation IDs created by Firebase. Each time the app opens, Firebase also receives a short session record (random session and installation IDs, the time, device model, iOS and app version) so we can count crash-free sessions. None of this contains video, images or account details. Crash reports and session records are sent even when Share usage data is off, because we need them to keep the app working. Firebase keeps them for a limited period (currently around 90 days). Google's handling is described in the Firebase privacy information.
Game Center: leaderboards and races
If you're signed in to Game Center on your device, the app sends your total reps for the week and your total stars to Apple's Game Center leaderboards. Other players, including your Game Center friends, can see these scores with your Game Center name. The app loads your Game Center friends and their scores to show them in Ranks and Race a friend; this list stays on your device.
Live races. When you race a friend, the two phones exchange messages through Game Center: the app version, the game picked, your score as it changes, and about ten times a second the positions of 12 points on your body (shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles) so your friend sees your outline move. No video or image is sent, and we don't receive these messages.
Challenges. When you send a friend a challenge to beat your run, the app stores that run in Game Center for them to play within 2 days: your score over the round and your body outline about five times a second. Their result is added when they finish. The app removes the challenge once you've seen the outcome.
Apple runs Game Center under its own privacy policy; we don't receive your Apple ID. You can sign out in Settings › Game Center.
Streak reminder
If you turn on Me › Streak reminder, iOS asks whether Reps Race may send you notifications. The app then schedules one notification on your iPhone for 7 pm on days you haven't done a quest yet, showing your streak. It is created and shown by your device; nothing is sent to us or to a server. Turn it off in Me › Streak reminder or in Settings › Notifications › Reps Race.
Voice coach and sharing
The voice coach speaks with your iPhone's built-in voices, on the device. A results card you share is made on your phone and goes only where you send it.
What we don't do
We don't show ads, track you across apps or websites, or sell or share personal information. If a future version changes any of this (for example, by adding purchases or optional ads), we will update this policy and the App Store privacy details before that version is released.
Children
Reps Race is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You can turn off usage statistics in Me › Share usage data, the streak reminder in Me › Streak reminder, and camera access in Settings › Apps › Reps Race (Settings › Reps Race before iOS 18). Usage statistics are tied only to a random ID, so we may not be able to find your records, but contact us with any request about your data and we'll help.
Where data is processed
PostHog stores usage statistics in the EU. Google (Firebase Crashlytics) and Apple (Game Center) may process data outside the EEA, for example in the United States. They rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
